Ready, Set, Go!

It's been far too long and it feels good to write again! For those of you who know me, this isn't my first rodeo with blogging. I had to check, but all the way back in January of 2013 I officially became a blogger writing about running. I'm a strange person in that I like my privacy, but enjoy talking about my life and my running. If you look me up on the internet, you'll find all sorts of links to social media, three other blogs and even a video running podcast. For a guy who doesn't like to be the center of the stage, I'm doing a great job!

When you look at everything that I've created the past four years, you'll see that I've gone through some big changes in my life. Each time there was a change, I found myself creating something new. Ah, and there's the reason why I think I keep coming back to the center of that stage. Although I'm private, there's something cathartic about sharing your story. Even better when someone reaches out to you and lets you know they got something valuable from your tale.

As if on cue, I find myself yet again at another point where my life's changed and I want to tell this chapter's story here. I may even dust off the old video equipment and start recording again. I promise to post links if that happens!

Before Streaking, Running Shoes & Second Chances gets up and running, a couple of disclaimers:

  • I'm not a professional running coach. I leave that stuff to my good friends like Coach Judy Mick or Coach Jeff Smith. But in another life I am, and have been around the block once or twice. I've learned a few things in the past 16 years of running!

  • I'm not always going to talk about running. Like the description hints at up top, I think that when you're a runner that life and your running have a unique way of meshing together. Sometimes the start and finish line get blurred a little. You'll most likely find me talking about other aspects of my crazy life. And yes, I'll also revisit things I've talked about in the past.

  • I'm not always going to be about new distances, smashing PR's and winning age groups. As with life, and running, its not always a good time. I've never been someone who sugarcoats things and you won't get that from me here. But if there's one valuable thing that running's taught me through the years, it's that happiness isn't at a finish line. It's how you run the miles in between and those setbacks that makes the victories all that much more special.

  • I'd love to hear from you! After putting your story out there for a while you quickly realize that most people read what you write and that's it. Hardly anyone ever comments. I do that sometimes even myself. I'm just as busy as everyone else. But I encourage you to let me know if you like something, even if you don't. Because as much as I like telling my journey, I'll enjoy listening to yours even more!

Have a great day and see you out there...

PS: Don't worry about the meager layout of the blog. Over the next few weeks I'll put links to all my favorite things, favorite people, my other crazy creations and let you know how to get in touch with me if you want to ask someone what the hell Fartleks are!
